Some RaNDoM thoughts...

Concerning UCLA basketball: We barely beat Stanford, although the score says otherwise. We didn't lead UNITL OT. Similarly, we barely beat Cal. We didn't lead until we won at the end. My thoughts: if we continue to play catch-up, it will eventually "catch-up" to us. I really hope we win the national championship this year but I have my doubts after these past two games.

Concerning the Lakers: We're #1 again!! But later next week we begin a difficult roadtrip which consists of New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, and Utah. I hope we do well.

Concerning what I'm listening to right now:
Taylor Swift, I like Teardrops on my Guitar.
Jordin Sparks, Michael Buble, Colbie Caillat, Guang Liang (Tong Hua).

Concerning all things spiritual: I am still in need of a MR....

Concerning blogging: I haven't blogged for about a wk...

Concerning sailing: I'm in the Hobie Cat course now. We get to capsize the boat tomorrow. :)

Concerning barbecueing ribs: We boiled them last night. (Yes, we should have baked them at a low temperature for a long time). Then we grilled them. However, others believed they should be grilled on a low temperature to slow cook the ribs, when in fact they're already cooked. I, on the otherhand, wanted to grill them on a very high temperature to burn the bbq sauce in. I was right. Just for the record.

Concerning Obama, Clinton, and McCain: I am totally clueless as to who to vote for... NOT because I haven't been following their policies (well, sorta) but more so because I don't think really like any of them...

Good DAY!!

Today is a good day! I went sailing almost out into the ocean with the big waves. The Lakers won. UCLA won. What a great day!

Shimmer works!!

So here it is at last. All my long nights in the lab and hard work have paid off. The system you see before you, otherwise known as SHiMmer (Structural Health Monitoring) is finally working!! Yup, that's it right there. That green board. It's being powered by power supplies right now but it will eventually be running just on solar panels and super capacitors.

And here it is working. Note that the blue line is the signal generated by Shimmer. It's a sine wave but you can't really see it because it's too fast. That's why it's just a block. And the yellow thing is the sine wave after it has propagated through a long metal strip. So there you have it.

Sushi Ota

So I finally I went to Sushi Ota. It was awesome! See pics below:

I asked the chef to make something using crab. This is what he came up with. :)
